While the Giants are now the first MLB team to officially acknowledge the month on their uniforms, the organization has been pioneering LGBTQ+ acknowledgement since 2019.

Just prior to Saturday's game, the team will honor f0rmer San Francisco city politician Tom Ammiano, who became one of the city's first openly gay public school teacher in 1975 and helped found the city's gay teachers' organization.

'Very proud that the San Francisco Giants are taking this step. Giants manager Gabe Kapler praised the organization for taking the initiative to become the first MLB team to celebrate Pride Month with official uniforms. Light blue, pink and white represent those who are transgender. Red represents life, orange represents healing, yellow represents sunlight, green represents nature, blue represents serenity, purple represents spirit, and black and brown represents LGBTQ+ people of color.
